SYSTEM CME PROGRAMThis page contains information on the Silver Cross EMS System CME Program. This is for EMS Providers that are currently in the Silver Cross EMS System as their primary System.
SILVER CROSS EMS SYSTEM CME PROGRAMThe Silver Cross CME program follows a trimester format. This process offers 10 HOURS of CE PER TRIMESTER (3 hours for each month's PowerPoint presentation and study guide completion, plus 1 hour for the trimester test). This process will be repeated every 4 months: 1st Trimester: January, February, March – presentation and study guide with testing in April 2nd Trimester: May, June, July – presentation and study guide with testing in August 3rd Trimester: September, October, November – presentation and study guide with testing in December Beginning in March 2011, system CME will be available in two formats – a) the traditional PowerPoint presentation, which will continue to be posted on this page, and b) a live or pre-recorded, web-based presentation. EMS coordinators will receive email instructions monthly for accessing the web-based presentations. Whenever possible, EMS coordinators are asked to make arrangements for their providers to view the web-based presentations. Web-based presentations may only be accessed from the firehouse or company as a group; individuals are not allowed to view the web-based presentations outside their department or company’s regular CME time without making prior arrangements with the Silver Cross EMS office. On the fourth month the EMS coordinators will administer the trimester test. They can administer the test throughout the entire testing month whenever they choose. The EMS coordinators need to grade each test and keep them on file, so the system can review the test files during site visits. The EMS coordinator will send a report of provider compliance to the System at the end of each module’s testing month (an alphabetical listing of just name and score). The tests are mandatory for providers who are primary in the Silver Cross EMS system. 80% is the minimum passing score. The System will suspend providers who do not complete trimester exams by the due dates: Trimester 1 scores are due April 30, Trimester 2 scores are due August 31, and Trimester 3 scores are due December 31. Providers who complete all trimester's study guides and tests should receive a total of 30 hours annually. This will total 120 hours in four years, which is what the state requires minimally for license renewal.
